Women’s Public Policy Network encourages advocates and partners to use as resource for statehouse, national efforts
Columbus, OH — At a pivotal moment for women and families in Ohio and across the nation, the Ohio Women’s Public Policy Network (WPPN) announced today the launch of a new website to help engage and educate advocates and partners.
With a number of state and federal bills affecting women and families – including the Congressional Republicans’ healthcare bill to repeal and replace the Affordable Care Act, restrictions to abortion access in the Ohio Legislature, and the state budget – the coalition of 25 advocacy organizations is urging Ohioans to use their site as a resource for ways to get involved.
“We are facing some of the most important policy fights of our time, especially around women’s health care,” said Erin Ryan, Manager of WPPN. “Our new website provides the tools and resources that advocates need to be effective and impactful, whether it be at their local City Council meeting, in the Statehouse or on Capitol Hill.”
The website features resources developed by WPPN as well as coalition partners, such as Legislative Scorecards, research and reports, and policy fact sheets. It also provides a way for Ohioans to become more active in advocacy efforts organized by the coalition and maintains an Ohio story bank for women to share their own stories of how access to – or lack thereof – certain policies has impacted their lives.
“It’s vital that Ohio women are given a voice on legislation that will directly impact them and their families, and our website will provide a platform for them to share their stories and make their voices heard,” continued Ryan.
WPPN will update the site on a regular basis with timely news and action alerts to keep partners and advocates informed and engaged. The website can be viewed online, at www.womenspublicpolicynetwork.org.
The Ohio Women’s Public Policy Network is a coalition – convened by Innovation Ohio Education Fund – of over 25 advocacy organizations focused on promoting policies that create economic security for women and strengthen Ohio families. Using a collective voice that represents the women of our state, this network works to ensure that public policy reflects the true needs of women and families.
